Coffee Cupcake - Stampin' Up! Coffee Cafe - Fab Friday 117

I have been so slacking with my blog lately!  I can't seem to get into a good rhythm of stamping AND sharing!  We've have VBS at our church this past week and of course I am one of the craft ladies.  It's hard work getting 100+ kids, ages 3-10 through the crafts station every day.  We have a great team and we're having fun but when I get home at lunch time there isn't too much energy left for creative work!  My family would probably say there isn't much energy left for interesting dinners either!

But I do have a card ready for today's newest Fab Friday challenge!  We have a fun sketch challenge and hope that you can join us with a design of your own.

I'm a firm believer that you can't have too many birthday cards in your stash so I went with a very pink birthday card this time!

I'm generally not a huge pink fan and rarely use the lighter pinks except for accents and baby girl cards.  I thought the sweet cupcake would work well with the new In Color Powder Pink.

The Coffee Cafe stamp set clearly has the market cornered for coffee themed images.  The cups and accessories are fun for all your caffeinated card making needs.  But what might not be apparent is that you can use this set to make cupcakes as well.   That whipped cream stamp looks great a frosting (or icing if that's what you call it....any baker's out there who can tell me the difference??) and the woodgrain cup pattern as well as the plain sleeve stamp make for pretty nice cupcake bottoms wouldn't you say?

I used Powder Pink ink for the frosting and the hearts sprinkled around.  Chocolate Chip ink is the cupcake bottom and the sentiment from Tabs for Everything.

I put everything together with a doily, 1/2" woven ribbon in Powder Pink, white baker's twine and some rhinestones.

I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful creation in the Fab Friday gallery!  Now get to work!

Thanks for looking!  Did you stamp today?

Berry Swirls - Stampin' Up! Swirly Bird

It's so hard getting back into some kind of routine after being on vacation.  Add in it being summer, a mid-week holiday and a dog that decides at 3:50am that it's time to get up I'm having a rough time!  I told my husband that I feel like a zombie minus the brain eating thing this morning.  I may just need to take a nap this afternoon.

I'm glad I have a few cards that I made before vacation to share since I'm thinking there might not be too much creativity happening in my stamp room today!

I made this card for a sketch a few weeks back and of course didn't get it photographed in time before the challenge ended.  I thought the layered circles in the center was a neat design element and went through my stamps to see what would work.

Sirly Bird flowers fit the bill.  The top flower is stamped in Berry Burst then the swirl is embossed with silver.  Another larger swirl, also stamped in Berry Burst, is layered behind it.  The largest circle is a Basic Black Stitched Shape framelit circle.

I layered all of the circles on top of a Whisper White panel that was scored diagonally.  The happy birthday sentiment from Balloon Celebration is embossed in silver on Basic Black.  A few small rhinestones and a silver cord finish off the details for this card.

I better get going on my to do list to make some time in my day for that nap later!

When Pigs Fly - Stampin' Up! This Little Piggy

Happy 4th of July!  We just got back into town after a trip up north to visit family and then further north to a good friend's wedding.  The wedding was in Boston so my husband and I explored the whole Freedom Trail (and then some) and we got to learn so much of our American Revolution history!  We saw many of the important historical sites that played such a big role in our country's founding.  And a lot of graveyards!  They are tucked all over the city and actually quite interesting from a historical perspective if you just don't think about how many people are under your feet!  I know our country's history is just a speck of time compared to other countries but just being able to walk the same streets and learn more about the patriots lives was so interesting.  I think we walked about 9 miles and it's a good thing we live in Virginia and are used to heat and humidity because it was a hot one!

My card today isn't patriotic but I think we can all agree it's cute nonetheless!  Check it out:

The This Little Piggy stamp set is so cute and is easy to color!  The images are pretty open so you can color them in quickly.  This one is stamped in Stazon onto Watercolor paper.  She (he?) is colored in lightly with Calypso Coral using an Aquapainter.  Her ear and nose have a few extra layers of Calypso Coral to make them a bit darker.  The wings have just the lightest touch of Pool Party and then they are colored over with clear Wink of Stella to give them a bit of sparkle.  Once she was all colored I cut her out with the Stitched Shapes framelits oval.

I added just a little bit of color with a DSP flag on the edge of the oval.  This is the Delightful Daisy DSP and it works perfectly with this watercolored image because it's a lighter shade of Calypso Coral and has a bit of watercolor wash look itself.

The card base is Pool Party with rounded bottom corners and then the little cloud is stamped all over the front in Whisper White craft ink.  The piggy panel is popped up on the card front with dimensionals.

Doesn't it just bring a smile to your face?

Have a great holiday with family and friends!

Sending Love with Blooms - Stampin' Up! Garden in Bloom

So you know when you're stamping and things are coming together really nicely?  And you're liking how all the elements are looking?  And the layout is good?   And then you adhere something and
---screeeeeech---  all the stamping love and mojo comes to a sudden halt because the main element of the card is completely crooked?  Please tell me I'm not the only one this happens to?  That's exactly what happened to this card.  I was loving all of it; colors, layout, pop of black and now all I can see is the tilt.  Usually I can pop the layer off and re-position it but I used Tear Tape this time and once it's on, it's on!

It's not all fun and games in the stamp room I guess.  But I do still like the card and will certainly be using this color combo again.  The card base is Sahara Sand which is a nice cool neutral against these brights.  The Garden in Bloom set has been around for a while and I still find it useful as a nice 2 step floral set. The larger flowers are stamped in Daffodil Delight with the second layer stamp stamped off once.  The leaves are stamped the same way but with Lemon Lime Twist.  LLT is such a perfect summer green and it looks wonderful with Daffodil Delight.  The little blue flowers are stamped in Soft Sky and then cut out and popped up on dimensionals.

Using my go to sentiment set Sunshine Sayings and coordinating Sunshine Wishes thinlets I stamed the 'sending' in black and then die cut the 'love' in Basic Black.  To make the larger word pop a bit more I pressed the die cut into my Versamark pad and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  It gives it a nice shine and texture.

I used the Layering Squares framelit to make the scalloped edges.  I just used the largest scalloped square die and cut several narrow lengths and then lined up the scallops and adhered them to the back of the flower panel.  The narrow 1/2" or 3/4" strips that we all save in our scrap bags are perfect for this.

A length of retired Soft Sky (or maybe Pool Party??) stitched satin ribbon is folded underneath the main panel.  A black baker's twine bow anchors the right side of the ribbon.  And finally it was all adhered to the card base; crooked of course!

We went on a little hike yesterday and this is the end of one of the trails.  Check out that view out over several lakes!  It was a nice place to sit and relax and watch the comings and goings of boats and forget about crooked cards!

Just Add Beautiful - Stampin' Up! Just Add Text

Today's card features one of the freebie sets I received at the April Stampin' Up! On Stage event.   This isn't a set I would normally have on my wish list but free is free and it's always a good idea to step out of my comfort zone and try to something different.  I find that usually the results are pleasing  and the card is something I can proudly mail out.

The card is very clean and simple with only a few special details.  The image is embossed in black so it has a nice shine and raised feel in real life.  The leaves and flowers are colored in with Calypso Coral and Old Olive markers.  The images are small so it just takes a minute to color it all in.  The image was then cut out with Layering Ovals framelits and another scalloped oval was cut in Old Olive to back it.

The ovals are popped up on dimensionals over a Calypso Coral and Basic Black banner.  The card base is Whisper White thick with the bottom corners rounded.

So the moral of the card is to pull out that stamp set that isn't your style or first choice and just sit down and play with it.  CASE the catalog layout, check out Pinterest for ideas but definitely get some ink on it and see what happens.

Beautiful Life - Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons

I had a lot of fun 'just because' stamping right after my new catalog party in early June and I totally forgot to share this project that my stampers made at the party.  I was so busy stamping and sharing some of those cards to challenges that this one kind of got pushed to the side.  It's a really easy card but so fun and bright.  My stampers loved this set and coordinating framelits and it was at the top of many of their wish lists.  I think the sweet chair die cut was their favorite.  And who can blame them?  So many cute ideas with this chair!

I always like to show off the new In Colors at my new catalog party and this was the card that I designed to use Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist.  Definitely bold and bright but very fun and it shows off the some of the Colorful Seasons stamp set and some of the cordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlets.  There are so many great things happening with this bundle that I think you could come up with a card design for just about any occasion.

This one has a Berry Burst base and then a layer of Whisper White and next one of Lemon Lime Twist.  We die cut the chair in Whisper White and adhered it to the LLT layer.  We stamped the greeting on the other side in Fresh Fig.

3 flowers are then stamped in Fresh Fig and then die cut.  2 more flowers are die cut just using Berry Burst cardstock.  The flowers are layered around the sentiment with one in each cluster popped on dimensionals.  A really easy all purpose card!

It's the Bomb Pop - Stampin' Up! Cool Treats - Fab Friday 115

Now that it's officially summer we can go full force with the summer treats right?  We have a pile of ice pops and bomb pops in our freezer so our family is ready...and the heat seems to have arrived so it's perfect timing!

It's a Fab Friday sketch challenge this week!  We've got several layers to play around with so there should be lots of great ideas in the gallery.

I thought some fun frozen treats would be perfect with this layout and the bright colors work perfectly for those summer celebrations.  This could be a great birthday card or even a 4th of July card!  I love me some red, white and blue (or Tempting Turquoise as the case may be)!

The card base is Whisper White thick and then layered with Tempting Turquoise and more Whisper White panels.  The large Whisper White panel is embossed with the new Ruffled 3D Dymanic Textured embossing folder.  It's hard to see but it give a cool wavy look.  I thought it kind of resembled a flag waving in the breeze so that kind of goes with the 4th of July theme.

Next, is a Real Red flagged strip stamped with the little stars from the Tabs for Everything set.  Definitely take a look at this set if you need some smaller words and images.  I have used it way more than I thought I would when I first received it at the the Stampin' Up! On Stage event in April. And we're only one month into the new catalog.

I used the Cool Treats stamp set to make the bomb pops by stamping several in Real Red and Tempting Turquoise and then cutting the layers and adding Whisper White to make 3 bomb pops.  The sticks were stamped in Crumb Cake and then fussy cut and adhered to the back of the pops.  I popped them up with dimensionals.

Finally we have the sentiment stamped in Real Red using the Tabs for Everything set.  I combined 2 different stamps to get the 'celebrate today'.  Digging out my Silver Glimmer paper scraps I punched a few stars and popped them up with the new mini dimensionals---they are so cute!

Check out the rest of the Fab Friday Design Team for more inspiration for this sketch challenge.  Hope to see your card in the gallery!
